ACORN RECORDS
DISCOGRAPHY
West New York, New Jersey (?)
Started in 1958, ACORN RECORDS - as a subsidiary of Eli Oberstein's Rondo Records.
Its early catalog were largely reissues of material from Rondo or other of Oberstein's Record Corporation of America labels, although not always credited to the same artists.
When Rondo was sold to P.R.I. in 1961, Acorn was included, and reissues of material from old Tops or other PRI labels soon appear.
Acorn was assigned to Hudson Record Company in New York, which was also part of the PRI corporate group, for pressings, etc.
Of all budget labels under PRI, Acorn was by far "THE" worst.
Jacket notes were poorly written and the proof reader (what proof reader?) for the printer - who did not proof read.
At times the platter label read something altogether differant than the jacket.
I have two platter, both labels and the jackets are differant and the platter is not at all what the labels read.
Jacket Logo
The Acorn platter label was blue with silver print.
The ACORN logo (with an acorn inside the letter "O") bends around the top edge of the label.
The address of the label is given on the back of the jacket as "West New York, New Jersey" (wherever that is).
We are always working to get YOU a complete list of ACORN RECORDS
THIS IS FOR INFORMATION ONLY!
We have no association with ACORN RECORDS or any one in the recording industry.
Should you be interested in acquiring albums listed here (all of which are out of print),
we suggest you go back to our Label page and see what we have now, (remember we up date all the time so the listing will change.)
